Conn Architects is an established Tallahassee-based firm with a focus on design with lasting value.  Serving the Southeast United States for over 35 years, we have experience with retail, workplace, medical, hospitality, and residential projects that showcase our commitment to fulfilling our client’s objectives and goals.

Our designers work closely with clients to combine their vision with our years of technical expertise.  We strive to collaborate with the design team to create the project that culminates in a functional, attractive, flexible space for generations of use.

President

Michael A. Conn, AIA

Michael Conn, a seasoned Architect with over 30 years of experience and a member of the first graduating class of Florida A&M University’s School of Architecture, has a deep understanding of all phases of the architectural design process. He has been the go-to Architect for many private and public entities seeking signature buildings in Tallahassee and throughout Florida. Architect Conn’s expertise has guided his team to successfully complete all phases of the design and construction processes, resulting in visually appealing and long-lasting buildings. In his personal time, Architect Conn enjoys spending time with his family and friends, often found boating or relaxing on the sandy beaches of Alligator Point.

Architect / VP of Operations

Gina Demirel, AIA

Gina is a graduate of Florida State University with a double major in Finance and Real Estate, as well as a Masters of Architecture from Florida A&M University.  She originally joined Conn Architects in 2008, but left to pursue real estate development in Houston, Texas.  In 2017, she returned to Tallahassee to re-join Conn Architects as a full-time Architect.  Her experience in real estate development allows her to assist her clients with both a design perspective and an understanding of project feasibility. She enjoys commercial projects, especially adaptive reuse and incremental development.  She is a registered Architect, a member of AIA Florida, Vice President of AIA Tallahassee, a member of NCARB, and President of Grow Tallahassee, a local non-profit focused on smart growth.

Senior Architect

Shane A. Moniz, AIA

As a licensed Florida Architect with 19 years experience in a broad project collection, Shane is a valued resource for many scopes of work. Shane joined the Conn Architects team in January 2011 and quickly became a vital asset to the design process. His responsibilities include design, project management, production of construction documents, facilitation of information between clients and consultants, construction administration, and field inspections. Shane volunteered his services for the 2009 Extreme Home Makeover, located in Tallahassee, FL. He has also won the following awards in architecture: Florida Trust for Historic Preservation Infill Design Award, Willis Barn at the Historic Willis Dairy (2009), ARCC King Medal (2004), AIA Certificate of Merit (2004), 1st Place Design Award for AIA Sponsored Oldsmar Cultural Arts Center Design Competition (2001), and 3rd Place Digital Graphics Award for AIA Sponsored Oldsmar Cultural Arts Center Design Competition (2001).

David Chase

David has been a part of the Conn Architects team for over 10 years and has been an important source of architectural knowledge and expertise. David has worked on projects of all sizes and has been involved in all phases of the architectural process, including design, project management, construction documentation and construction administration. His understanding of how things go together reaches beyond the office with his love of cars and working on them.

Brad Zubrick

As an employee of Conn Architects for over 20 years, Brad brings years of valued experience for many different phases of work. Brad’s responsibilities include design, project management, and project documentation, as well as putting together the firm’s renderings for clients. Having taken architecture classes at both UNLV and FAMU, Brad brings his love of design to the firm dating back to grade school where he would draw perspective cityscapes. In his spare time, Brad enjoys watching college and professional football and basketball and occasionally taking time to go golfing.

Architect / LEED AP BD+C

Michael Rey, AIA

Michael joined the Conn Architects team out of graduation from FAMU with a Master of Architecture in 2019. Michael brings not only an architectural background to the firm, but also has a degree from Florida State in Business Management that translates well to project and team management in the architectural field. Michael is a licensed architect and LEED Accredited Professional with years of experience in the field, dealing mostly with construction documentation and project design. In his spare time he enjoys going to Florida State football games to cheer on his favorite team to victory.

Comptroller

Denise Satterwhite

Denise has been an integral member of the Conn Architects family as our Comptroller and manager of our day-to-day activities. If you need something done, she is the person who can make it happen. Denise comes to us with over 20 years of office management experience. She is lovingly married to her husband Ben and they have just welcomed two grandsons into their family. She is a diehard Florida State football fan and you can catch her at the beach almost every weekend.

Grace Shepherd

With a passion for high-quality, human-centered design, Grace brings both technical software and design skills to the team. Since graduating from Florida State University with a B.S. in Interior Design, she has provided thoughtful space planning, construction documentation, and material selection to a variety of projects. Grace is a LEED Green Associate and plans to pursue her NCIDQ certification. When she is not at Conn, you can find her painting or playing guitar outside, or in the rock climbing gym with her husband, Brent.

Keyton Bielecky

Keyton is a recent graduate the Interior Architecture and Design Program at Florida State University. He is a Graduate Designer specializing in Revit software and intends to learn the ins and outs of the architectural and design worlds. He enjoys being outside and you can find him on a golf course or the range pretty much every weekend.

Emily Watson

Emily Watson is a graduate of the Interior Architecture and Design program Florida State University. She is a Graduate Designer with an interest in developing her skills in Revit. In addition to Architecture and Design, Emily enjoys spending her time with her husband, cat, and the great outdoors.

Gary Feldman

With over 22 years of experience in Architectural Design and Construction, Mr. Feldman brings to Conn Architects a vast knowledge of project management, construction experience, and design. Gary is very passionate, ambitious, and proactive about his job and life. His strong design and construction expertise, along with his passion for a healthy live/work balance strengthens his ability to manage and design complex projects. When not inspecting a job site, or in the office designing, Gary enjoys the Gulf, beaches, horseback riding, and playing sports.
